Lime Slime~

Hey hi hello!

I'm having a major disaster with my computer at the minute and so my dad has changed the hardrive, meaning all pictures that were going to be uploaded have been lost! Therefore it's past 1am and I'm blogging because it's the first chance I've had!

This is a pretty simple nail art idea, I've seen a lot of pinstripe and drip nails around lately, but I went for spots and polka dots instead, Because I'm so original guys. I kid. I know you're probably all bored of my obsession with the drip effect nails, I'm trying to get out of a rut of doing the same thing over and over.

Very easy to do with only three colours, the lime green is Bourjois "Lime Catwalk" and I love the colour but I hate everything else about it. The drying time is awful, if it even dries at all, it chips straight away, the consistency is awful. What do you guys think of this product? IThis manicure lasted a whole half an hour before getting ruined. Any suiggestiongs for a lime green polish available in the UK?

Thanks for reading!

A quick announcement!

Hellloooo.
There will be a nail post tomorrow I swear, this post will be deleted in a few days.
I just wanted to let you know that I have a new blog now, this one being related to beauty/fashion/make-up/life-style. Nails here, everything else over there.

By there I mean Liner, Lipstick and Strawberry Lemonade. Is it catchy? I like it! Not  as much as I like eye liner, lipstick or strawberry Lemonade though!

Have a great night guys, speak tomorrow x

Rainy days and Rainbows!

Herro!
How are you all today, I have another nail art post for you. I didn't really have an idea of what to do but I was inspired by a jumper that I own and wham Bam Thank you man, I had pretty nails!

I think I loved the rainbow nails best, they went pretty well I think! The yellow are meant to be little Wellies I swear, but they didn't turn out so great.

Short, very short, post but I'm off to bed!

Peace, Love and Aztec.

Hey, hi, hello!

How are all of you on this not so glorious day? I have been lacking inspiration, but then my cousin texted me with the message "when I come to Newcastle will you paint by nails in an Aztec print? I'll love you forever! x", I decided to redo my favourite mani to date (psssst it's right here) but change it up a little.

You may notice the colours I used for this will be used quite a lot in the future, I'm becoming obsessed with the combination. Side not: Would you believe I don't own any bright purple nail varnishes, I have one purple! One! I need a trip to Boots me thinks. Back to the nails.

Models own - Purple Grey
NYC - Permanent pink
Revlon - Provence
Barry M - Silvery Lilac

For the pale pink colour I mixed up the NYC and Revlon colour because I had no other colour I wanted to use. I messed up the heart pattern a little but I give no cares. Silvery Lilac didn't show up too much but in certain lights in looked awesome.

What do you guys think of tribal /  Aztec print nails, do you like them?

Love Amy x

PS: By the looks of high street shops Lime Green is coming into fashion this Spring. YES! I usually live in black and Grey but lime green is a colour I love! Maybe I'll FINALLY get that perfect lime polish! :D

Oh my, Oh my, A giveaway!

Hellloooo!

Today I have a giveaway for you guys, I'm really sorry but this one is for UK residents only because Royal Mail are dumb and polish isn't allowed to be shipped by airmail to international destinations...

This giveaway was meant to happen when I hit 15 followers of my blog, but I'm late, go figure. I know the prize isn't excellent and worth loads of money, but I just wanted to say a small thank you to the people who follow this blog. There will be another giveaway soon, for anyone to enter, but for now you wonderful fellow English people shall have the chance.

The Prizes

~ A small make-up bag
~ two Accessorize Speckle effect polishes
~ A figs and rouge lip & body balm
~ A £5 voucher for a shop of your choice (as long as I can get my hands on one!)

Ladybird and Leapord Moth. Red with Black specks and white with Black specks.

I love the print, such cute make-up brush design :D
The reason for choosing these were that the leopard Moth swatch post I done a few months ago has been super popular, and most people find it hard to get. Ladybird I just though was gorgeous and not too over the top. I know Figs and Rouge balms are very popular in the beauty world, and everyone uses lip balm right? Also, you can't have too many make-up bags. As long as it is a store that you can get online vouchers for or if I have the shop in my city, a voucher will be given to you within the prize.

Rules

~Be following this blog or my tumblr here
~ Recreate one of my old nail art designs, or do a design inspired by one of my posts.
~Post a picture of the design on tumblr, an image hosting site or on your blog and comment or email me the link.
~Closing date is Wednesday the 6th of February (two weeks from now)

Thanks guys, hope you like the giveaway. Sorry about it not being international but there will be one soon! Hope you are all having a great week!

Snow on Snow on Snow~

Hello!
Today I have an almost festive nail art that I forgot to post near Christmas. I'm finding it fitting right now though because snow hit the North East a few days ago and I'm totally chuffed about it! But in order to make this post more about snow and less about the festive season I'll also add in a few pictures from my flickr :D

Barry M - Navy
Barry M - Blue glitter
Look Beauty - Pearl Effect
Barry M - Matte White
Maybelline - Black Onyx

All snowy and pretty. The snowmen aren't perfect but I liked them anyway. Also I have figured I pefer my thumb nails short rather than long for a change. And so, onto pretty pictures of snow :D

There you have it, if you want to see any more pictures my flickr is here. I'm trying to update that now but I don't really take pictures all that often.

Have an great day!

Varnish Haul & Designs :D

Herro!
So over the last week or two I've gotten a few polishes, by a few I mean I spent way too much on things I didn't need. There's nothing new there though. Also in this post there will be a few designs that I did using the polishes, just so you can see them in use, also I didn't think they were special enough for posts of their own.

Revlon - Velvet  rope
Essie- fear & desire
Essie - It's genius
Essie - Chocolate Cakes
Revlon - Provence
Hello Kitty - Play ya (such a dumb name but I love everything else about it)
Models Own - Purple Grey

Not pictured:
NYC - Lexington Yellow
Look Beauty - Sequin effect

First up is Essie - It's Genius with Barry M - Matte White over the top in a star/snowflake design. There's also a coat of  look Beauty - Sequin Effect which is a green/ gold flakey which you can see if you enlarge the image.

Here is Revlon Velvet Rope with Fear & desire on top. Very simple but lovely colours.

Possibly my favourite design. Models Own - Purple Grey and Revlon - Provence along with little heart  studs  on thumb and pinky. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the revlon colour. I've been looking for a dupe of Max Factor chilled lilac for ages because I don't like the application of it, but this is amazing!

My favourite out of them all has to be Chocolate cakes though, it goes on so super smooth and glossy, you can just use one coat and get away with it if you're lazy like me. I've been wearing it none stop for the last two weeks. Can anyone tell what my favourite brands are these days? Also in Boots the Revlon polishes are down to £5 instead of £7.99, so worth a look if you're near one!

Love you guys!

Party popper Nails~

Hello!
I'm here with nails today for a change. Despite the fact it's a nail art blog I've been lacking, I know! Inspiration comes from weird places and this time it was from a bath bomb from Lush. I think it's called the party popper. It's blue and pink, when it fizzes out it has like pieces of confetti which can be used as soap! Just to show you here's a picture:

It was so awesome, it has popping candy in it so it made loads of noise too!

So here we go, a simple blue and pink with multi-coloured glitter and hearts. I quite liked it although I didn't leave it on for very long.

Time to grow up!

This is just gonna be a quick post before I head to bed for the night.

Today I decided that I'm going to move out of my parents house and in with my best friend. It's not something I had planned, the conversation just spring from nowhere and it was decided.

Moving for me is a scary prospect, going off into the world ad not always having my amazing parents to fall back on if I need them.

This July I turn 21 and I also graduate from University, if that isn't growing up I don't know what is. I always had the mind set that I didn't want to grow up, I wanted to stay a kid forever, and that is slowly changing. Trust me, looking for a full time job and making huge decisions is something I'm not looking forward to, but at the same time, I'm moving on and upwards.

So this week I'm house/flat hunting. Because I'm not going to be a student after June it's going to be more awkward to find a place to live.

I'm scared. So scared. Yet so excited.. The one thing that will keep me going is family, as log as they're happy, I'm happy.

Ohana means family, family means no one is left behind or forgotten.

Lots of love, Amy x

Ps: got any good tips or advice on moving out and growing up? I'd like to here em!

These are a few of my favourite things (2012 edition!)

Hello!
Again I went off and disappeared  again, but I now have now finished my University assignment which was taking up my life so I can post again. Although I could have posted three days ago but I now have an addiction to the Sims 3.... I'm such a child.

Anyway, here we are, 2013! I honestly can't believe how quickly last year went by, this year is going to be pretty crazy, with milestone birthdays (21 for me and most of my friends, 18 for my siblings!), graduating, attempting to find out what I want top do with my life and so on! I know I'm late on the bandwagon with this, and that all beauty bloggers have done their posts and moved on, but here we go!

First off lets start with nail polish, and oh lord, this was totally the year where I got into nail art and nail polish, and now I have a pretty hefty (and unorganised) collection. If I have used any of the colours in a blog post I shall make the name clickable and link straight to it!

Look, I have a pretty background now, kinda, sorta. It's a box lid. Anyway, onto the polish! There was only really six favourites, but I don't like even numbers so I added one more. In my eyes there were three stars of the year! Models own - Hayleys Comet, Essie - Navigate her and Sally Hansen - Megashine topcoat. Navigate Her is a polish I bought months ago, around June, I'm hooked, 100% hooked. It's a gorgeous colour, like a dusty pastel Khaki colour which can be worn all year round, a go-to colour when I don't know what to wear. Hayleys comet can be used on it's own or as a top coat, it's lovely and shiny and duo-chrome goodness. The others are Calvin Klein - Electric blue, which I was obsessed with at summer, Accessorize Speckle - Leopard moth, Essie - Stylenomics and NYC - Permanent pink. Pretty, pretty, pretty!

Next up, let's go for make-up. If you didn't already know, I'm also obsessed with make-up, just as much as I am with nails, if not maybe more. Choosing favourites wasn't so hard for me, I went  for products that have been 'holy grail' for me in the last year.

Face first? First off for foundation, I find it so hard to find a good priced foundation pale enough for me, honestly, I'm almost white. And so, when I came across Marks and Spencers make-up line and found the Autograph Matte mousse foundation in Ivory I almost was incredibly happy. Extra pale British people who don't see the sun, have no fear, Marks and Spencers are here! this retails for around £10, which I don't think is a bad price at all, you really don't need to use a brush to apply because it blends so easily. If I do have days where my skin feels really dry I won't use this, but when it looks soft and pretty then this is what I reach for.

This is the colour, really pale! Also for face, like most British bloggers this year I have loved the collection 2000 concealer in fair. It gives good coverage and covers spots, what else could you ask for? Oh wait, it's only £4. Bargain. They really need to sort out their packaging though. For primer the Collection 2000 primed and ready does a good job at preparing the skin, I have recently started using a new primer but for half a year, this was the product to use! Blusher,  Rimmel in Santa rose. It's very soft, with a tiny amount of shimmer, it contours your face slightly and gives a little colour, I don't like anything too full on, so this for me is a great product.

Onto eye make up! First an eye primer and oh boy, we've got a good 'un. MUA eye primer is amazeballs. Let's just bask in the glory of this amazing product, £2.50, yes please! Reviews on line have compared this to the Urban decay primer potion, saying it is just as good. I haven't even tried the urban decay one, there's no need because there's a £16 difference in price! I have oily lids and honestly, shadow doesn't budge at all when I use this. Trust me okay? It's good, it's all good.

This year one of my my staple products have defiantly been the Collection 2000 Extreme felt tip liner in black. Again a great product from Collection 2000. Gel liner or liquid eye liner and I do not get on well, this looks like a pen and you use it like a pen and it makes eyeliner easy. It's like £3! Bargain! Cheap as chips! I don't think I can rave about this product enough. I does wear off a little at the end of the day, but for the money, you really can't complain. Mascara has to be, hands-down Cargo lashactivator. It's just lengthening and nice and good. Unfortunately it is now impossible to get a hold of, unless I want to pay stupid amounts of money. In Boots months ago they were selling Cargo products at 75% off, I wish I stocked up because they don't sell them now. *sad face*

The Sleek Respect Palette. I just want to talk about the eight colours above. They are the perfect mix for a subtle day look or smokey eye if you wanted. The other four colours are bright pinks and oranges, which I used to make nail polishes. You can tell what colours I use most right? The pale colour that is hitting pan is actually a very pale cream colour that I use all over the lid, the brown is more olive toned in person and great for brows or in the crease. Love! This will be bought again, no question!

Last but not least, Lips. Maybe my favourite form of make-up product and I have so many. I managed to get it down to two! I'm impressed, seriously! First up is  the soap and glory 'great kisser' tinted lip balm in Chocolate Cherry. This is in this post because of the smell. It smells like it's supposed to, chocolate cherries. There are three in the range at £5 each, there are chocolate cherry (tinted a nice pink colour), Juicy peach (A light coral tint) and sweet coconut ( a clear with flecks of glitter). They're all as good as each other, even if you don't wear lipgloss or balm, go to boots and sniff them. And finally, the mothership of all lip products: YSL glossy stain in the colour Brun Glace (number 2).

This picture doesn't do it justice at all! It's an amazing dark red/purple that stays on for hours! I wear three coats. First I apply then pat off the excess with a cotton bud, second I apply another coat and wait a minute or so before applying a final coat. It's super glossy and super stainy and really worth the price tag. Go try it, just go now.

I hope you all like this post, sorry i've been MIA for a while, but I'm back, I swear. I'm now off for food because this post is loads longer than I thought it would be. If you want to see non beauty favourites such as music, films, food or games just let me know. Any nail art requests or ideas also leave em below. Have a great day!

First franken Polishes~

Hello!
Yesterday I was bored, and procrastinating, and so decided to create my own franken polishes. Getting them delivered to the UK is often fairly expensive and I wanted to try my hand and making pretty glittery things.

For the reason of liking it when polishes have names, I gave them names, first up is 'Lucy'. Inspired by my sister, who likes all things pink, glittery, she's a star... and she knows it.

left to right: three coats alone, two coats over NYC permanent pink,
two coats over Barry M Matte White and then two coats over black.
I think this one turned out good for my first try, I love the gold shimmer that comes through in certain lights. My favourite was over NYC permanent pink, it just made it so much bolder. The formulation was fairly runny however and I really had to wrestle to get the stars.

Next up is 'Leapfrog' which I came up with just now! This was my second attempt, I think I actually like this one the most of the three.

left to right: three coats alone, two coats over Essie Navigate her,
two coats over Barry M Matte White and two coats over a black

This one I loved over white, when given a good shake it was easier to apply than the first. It's pretty summery but I hope I can find a good use for it. Maybe my cousin would like to give it a home! Also it's not showing up well on the picture it also has pretty tiny blue glitter pieces in there too.

And finally 'Amber Rust', which looks more orangey in the bottle than it does on the name. At first I thought this would be the one I liked most, turned out to be the one I liked least.

Three coats alone, two coats over Revlon Tuscan Sun,
two coats over white and then two coats over black.

Pretty light amber orange with multi-colour and silver medium hexes, I'm not sure what colour I like it over best. Not sure how much I'll use this but I still like it.

Which colour do you like best? Any advice for the future?

Have a great day, Amy! x

The fault In Our Stars ~

Hello!

I was inspired yesterday by the book The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. If you haven't read it you just...have to. If you like a weepy book, you'll like this, although I found it so sad I cried for hours, I think my heart was broken slightly when I finished. That makes it a good book right? Despite the sadness in the book it is amazingly written, like all other John Green books, they're just clever and Witty, brilliant. Easily in my top five books of all time.

Anyhoo, lets get back on track! I've seen a lot of nail designs based on the cover of the book, but I went in the total opposite direction and was inspired by this lovely print based on a quote from the story:

Ahhh! IT'S SIGNED!

Gorgeous right? I really need to frame it and put it on my wall! Major fangirl moment when this came in the post! This isn't the one that I wanted but the other sold out, this though is so pretty. If you read the book, you'll understand the quote.

I know, I know, they're really girly and pastel and not very me, but you know, time for change in the new year and all that jazz. There's stars, and clouds and infinity signs, what more would you want from this manicure?! All in all I liked this, although i picked off the stars within two seconds after taking these photos.

Love and hugs, Amy!
