Melted Crayon Art Inspired!

Hey guys!

I 'melted crayon art' thing has really taken of over the last few months and it looks super fun, out of fear of covering the house in wax I won't attempt it, but I really love the effect, there's no better way to be inspired by the trend than to paint my nails.

Colours used:

Base: Essie "Neo Whimsical"

Red: Sinful colours "Cross my Heart"
Orange: Topshop "Carnival"
Yellow: Barry M "Yellow"
Green: Essie "Mojito Madness"
Blue: Topshop "Awol"
Indigo: NYC "Wild with Passion"
Violet: Champneys "Plum"

Glitter coat: Models Own "Hayleys Comet"

I really love how these turned out, I did mess them up at first on a few of the nails, but I found a technique that made the drips look more... drippy. I realised doing this that I really don't have many purple toned colours so these ones had to do, I really love the effect though and I got quite a few compliments at work.

Once I got into the flow after a few nails they really didn't take very long at all, apart from the rainbow on my thumb, that took me a while! I think these are super fun and a different way of pulling of brights for the summer. I know I've done quite a few 'drip' nails in the past but these are just so much better, don't you think?!

I added a bit of a glitter coat to the rainbow but I regretted it once I had finished the nails but hey, you live and you learn.

I am loving brights at the minute, maybe it was because we had a good few days of sun this week, until today, it's raining like crazy. Classic Northern England.

I'm sure you can expect many more crazy bright nails from me in the next few months!

Minecraft inspired nails!

Hey guys!

So I have formed an obsession with the game Minecraft because of Youtube and my brother, and so I decided to paint creepers and dirt blocks on my nails. I'm normal I swear. Anyway, if you haven't played Minecraft before I think you should go check it out, it's really fun, although I spend half of my time playing screaming at the computer as zombies and spiders run after me. I'm so rubbish at the game it's ridiculous. I die constantly.

I stuck with acrylic paints to do the square blocks, they seem a little easier to use and don't ruin brushes as much as nail varnish. The blocks aren't perfect, I didn't use tape or anything, I just freehanded it, making grids in my mind. I actually love the little creeper face, I'm super proud of it. They don't look evil but those little buggers just love to sneak up behind you and blow everything up.

I didn't do the dirt blocks in squares, I thought it would just look strange and blurred, not like dirt blocks at all, I really like how it turned out though, it made it more simple to do to, which was a bonus.

For my thumb nail I chose to do the TNT block, I was going to do Steve, the little default Minecraft guy, but after around an hour of drawing little squares I opted for an easier design. Yay laziness.  For all it was the most simple design concept it probably turned out worse than the others though.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the nails, although I didn't even attempt doing the right hand so I didn't keep most of the design. I kept the little creeper guy and painted the rest of the nails green, so they still looked pretty awesome.

It's another flowery kind of day.

Hey guys!

So apparently my obsession with floral nails hasn't stopped yet, I'm very much in a spring/ summer mood after we've had some gorgeous weather. Had a picnic in the park, been on adventures and walked for hours in the sun just for the hell of it.

I have fallen in love with the nude and green colours in this design, Models own 'Utopia' and Essie 'Mojito Madness', they're both just really, really, pretty shades for spring. I seen a design like this when browsing Google for inspiration, I just adapted it to make it more simple, to suit my tastes.

I really loved these nails when I done them, they styed on for almost a week before I got bored of them, even if they did get a little smudged and messed up after a few days. I usually go for really bright colours but this was lighter and a little more subtle .

I added Models own 'Indian ocean' to the centre of the flowers for a little glitter, I really love the new Artistix range from Models own and I'll probably buy more! Apparently 100 nail varnishes is enough for me!

How are you enjoying the British Spring Weather?

Dissertation mayhem!

Hey guys!
If you've been wondering where the hell I've been over the last few weeks I wouldn't blame you. It's true, I've been hunched over a computer for hours on end, but for all the wrong reasons.

If you didn't know already, I'm a final year English Language student, as a final year student I  have to write a 10,000 word dissertation with accounts for 60% of my final mark. As usual, I left some of my work to the last minute, so for the last few days I've locked myself away from the world, but not from Netflix, in order to conquer this thing!

I FREAKING FINISHED.

As of 15 minutes ago I finished with 9867 words in total, not including introductions, bibliographies, abstracts or tables. I'm quite proud of the work I have done and I thank all of my friends for helping me out with data, and giving me support throughout my work.

This doesn't mark the end though! I have four days to write a 3500 word essay, so I'm not calming down just yet. After that another 3500 word essay has to be finished. Roll on the 7th of May!

So I'm sorry for being so inactive, but my mind has been elsewhere recently. I will be back with a vengeance soon! Hopefully...probably.

Right. Let's watch Jericho then it's onto essay number one!

Speak soon!

Aprils Glitter Guilty Pleasures Box!

Hey hi hellloooo!

As promised I have my Glitter guilty pleasures box for April todays post, better late than never right? If you don't know what I'm talking about head over to the site here and you can find out everything about it, but basically it's a beauty box for nail varnish lovers! Each month you receive two mystery nail varnishes and a little chocolate and this months box was EPIC.

So this months box was a little bigger than the others and with it I received a mini Seche Vite top coat which I was a tad excited about... and by a tad I mean very and also a peanut butter chocolate which I'm scared to try because I only like peanuts sometimes... Onto the

This beauty of a nail varnish is called 'April showers' and is so relevant right now because the weather in Newcastle sucks, wishing I lived in the south where it's a bit warmer... or you know...maybe the Bahamas. It's a gorgeous light grey shade with lots and lots of  holographic glitters of different sizes and also little pink flowers! I found it was opaque in two coats, which I was amazed by because sometimes lighter polishes can be too sheer.

I love this, I don't know how much I'll wear it in the spring months but it's a polish I've never seen before and just looks so pretty and interesting on the nails. The little flowers are a little hard to fish out of the bottle but it's worth it!

Getting a picture of the next colour 'black ops' proved impossible! It's a gorgeous black with tiny holographic flakes which flashes purple/green depending on the light. This is by far my favourite nail varnish I've bought this year. I think it looks amazing alone or in a nail art design and the glitter isn't huge so it's really easy to work with and applies like a dream. It's opaque in one coat but the colour shows up more of a dark grey than a black, I found anyway.

I show here gradient nails with both colours, I didn't include the little pink flowers from 'April showers' because I didn't think they'd look right. I am so in love right now with these and can't wait for my next box. My parents keep asking me what I want for my birthday, I'll let them buy me a 6 month subscription...

What do you guys think of these boxes, are you tempted? I know I am!

Sidenote: The shipping is really awesome! When I first bought the box I thought it wouldn't arrive until about the 20th with it coming from America, but it arrived on the 10th, even with the three bank holidays! Thanks Jessica for your wonderful, wonderful creations!

Much Love, Amy x

Previously unseen nails!

Hey guuyyys!

So, if you hadn't realized already I am in fact the biggest klutz of all time and I have just recovered from a finger injury... and then injured myself again...by jamming my finger in the till at work. I swear I should claim compensation for work related injury, I'd be a millionaire, although it is self induced... Onto the nails!

There are a few designs I've done in the past that I haven't shown, due to them being not perfect, or I've forgotten to post and other such things! I figured I'd just show a couple pictures here!

I actually really quite liked these nails because of the bright colours, I used all Topshop colours because I seem to have an obsession at the minute!

The reason I didn't post this one was because of how often I post flower nails, plus they weren't perfect! Again I used Topshop colours!

A short post I know! But I'm posting about my April Glitter guilty box soon! I just wanted to show these designs with you.

Easy Peasy Poppies!

Hello!

So I haven't been painting my nails much recently, not pretty patterns anyway and if they have been a pattern it's been one I've shown multiple times before. It's fair to say I was lacking inspiration until I went on youtube today and found this video.

I always thought poppy nails would be fairly hard but guys! They were super easy peasy lemon squeezy!

I adore these nails, it's really put me in the spring mood now! They just look so gorgeous and effective without being really difficult to do. I'm now really excited to try some other flower nail art designs and maybe even try to create some of my own that I haven't used a tutorial for.

The colours used are Fearne 'Royal Red', Essie 'Mojito madness', Revlos 'white on white' and a random black polish I found lying around. I also have a new top coat which I am really excited about because I am in fact mental.  I finished off with Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri top coat to make the nails all nice and shiny!

I always realise that I use the bottom of my nail as the start of the design rather than the top but it's so the design looks the right way up to me so I hope it doesn't annoy you too much. I'll try to change I promise!

My mam really loved the nails and so I painted hers too. Like mother like daughter eh?

I was pretty impressed with these nails, I even managed to so my right hand well and that never happens. It was also only the second time I've ever done a design on somebody's nails and so I was chuffed that my mam loved them and I done them with no mistakes! Please excuse the pen mark on my hand, apparently the chicken little/ portrait of my dad will not come off my hand.

Lilo and Stitch Nails!

Hey guys!
After a bit of thinking I have decided to keep on the two blogs, this one may not get so many posts, but hey, a place for nail art is always a good place!

I wasn't sure what to do today and I was watching Lilo and Stitch, and then glanced over at my little Stitch toy, then I googled cute pictures of Lilo and Stitch before fianlly getting out the varnishes!

I wasn't sure what to do on the other nails, I only wanted two statement finger designs and then the others to be pretty much the same. I decided to go with Hawiian flowers because they just seemed fitting! Stitch took ages to do, it would take me ages to list all of the colours I used too because I had to mix quite a few to get the colours I wanted.

I decided on the Scrump toy on my thumb, I just always loved the look of that thing, it's oddly cute right?

I'm quite proud of these, they took ages to do. I gave up on my right hand so now they're painted white with red spodges. But I love love love these nails, although they did mean I had blue and red varnish all the way over my hands and desk space by the end of it!

Sticking to one blog?

Hey hi hello!

With my dissertation taking over pretty much every spare minute of my time, I am unsure about how much this blog will suffer. My aim is to post fequently, although posts may be short, I still want to do about four a week. I feel as though my love for nail art is taking the back seat right now and my love for make-up, fashion and photography are more evident and at the forefront of what I want to blog about when I get a minute.

I don't want to stop the nail type posts but I feel a whole blog dedicated to it is harder to maintain.

I'm not sure whether to just combine the two blogs under one roof, it's easier to manage, quicker to post and I won't need two google accounts and two bloglovin' accounts to go with it.

Thius was my first blog, and I thought it was going pretty well, this is my 70th post and it's dumb that it's so gloomy. This is what final year at University does to you!

I'm not sure what to do and I'll think it over for a few days but if I do want to only keep the one blog it will be Liner, Lipstick and Strawberry Lemonade which I feel has been my bigger focus for a while now.

What do you guys think I should do? I don't want to let any of you lovely follwers down!

Mojito Lime Lines.

Hello!

A quick post for you guys today! Because of the coming Spring I wanted a brighter nail design, but also one that wasn't going to take ages to do, because, well, I'm lazy!

Colours used:

Illamasqua: Radium
Essie: Mohjito Madness
Champneys: Raspberry

I really love this design, how it's different on every finger but all tie together. It has a sort of Aztec feel to it which I wasn't expecting at all but I loved anyway!

Glitter Guilty: Blue Diamond reviews and swatches!

Hey hi hello!

My previous post was about the glitter guilty Pleasures box and I told you I would swatch and review the two varnishes I recieved! My favourite of the two was blue diamond, it's such a wonderful colour with great opacity that is perfect for any season!

My camera doesn't like to pick up the square glitter very well but I managed to get a shot which shows some of it's beauty. I am in love with this colour right now, it's such a vibrant metallic blue with a hint of glitter, it's a colour I wouldn't usually gravitate to but I have totally changed now. The blue is totally opaque and in two coats you get an amazing coverage.

What I love most about this polish though is how easy it is to apply. Sometimes with polishes with glitter in them you need to hunt out the glitter with your brush for ages before you get a good amount for your nail. With this the glitter is just there on the brush and it spreads so evenly and nicely onto the nail. I also wore this for a good three days without major chipping so it lasts pretty well!

These pictures are with a topcoat just to smooth out any tiny bumps there may have been with the glitter particles but you don't really need one, it's lovely and shiny anyway!

I really think I've found a new favourite nail varnish, at least for a while!

Go to glitterguilty.com to order this varnish or have a neb at the other ones for sale!

Beauty Box for Polish lovers?!

Hey hi hello!

For a few months now I've been debating whether or not to try a beauty box but to be honest I don't think I'd get so much enjoyment out of them, I'm not a big fan of skincare products and such like. I was stalking Etsy, as I do for hours every day, and came across Glitter Guilty Pleasure box. I squealed. It's a monthly beauty box but with nail varnish treasure! For £15 I got a full sized polish, a mini polish and a little chocolate truffle! I think it was the addtion of chocolate which made me even more eager to purchase!

What I love about this is that you can tell the seller, Jessica, what colours you like or don't like, whether you prefer pigment or glitter AND whether you prefer milk or dark chocolate! Bonus! This was instant love for me because it meant that the products I would recieve would still be secret, but also that I will love them!

I've been eagerly tracking thepackage since the beginning of the month and I got home today to find this parcel! Unfortunatly I was whisked out of the house to see my Grandma and had to leave the little package on my bed, unopened. I was so excited to see what glorious treasures would be hidden beneath the depths of cardboard. I was so happy to recieve this and excited to show it that I couldn't be bothered to charge my camera, you'll have to deal with Iphone pictures!

When I eventually managed to opened the box this is what I found. It's so adorable in the way it's all packaged. I love that the polishes are all tied up like a little cracker and it adds even more excitement when opening it up. You can see the names of the polishes on the tag but you still have no idea what it's going to look like! Also mmmmmhhh mint truffles are love!

So I opened up the packages to find these colours! A gorgeous bright blue with little silver squares and micro glitters and a green with gold glitters and green strands. I'm so in love with the blue! I'm typing with wet nails because I couldn't wait to try it! The green is called "Rocky Road to Dublin" and the blue "Blue diamond".

I will post swatches of them within the week with my proper camera I assure you! Let's just say this blue is going to be a favourite of mine for a little while.

Check out Glitter Guilty's website here
Take a look at the Glitter Guilty Pleasures box and Etsy here

What do you guys think of this idea? I will be buying one every month so long as they continue to run! I am in love!

They ship worldwide too and the delivery was very quick from America! It took just over a week I think which is amazing! I wasn't charged anything from customs which is a massive bonus and you get one months postage for free! Safe to say I am in love.

I'm off to oggle at my nails now.

High notes of Gina.

Hey hi hello!

My favourite perfume at the moment is 'my place or yours Gina' from Benefit. Although it's majorly girly and floral the packaging is more edgy and I adore it. So I decided to recreate the nails on my nails...you know..the normal thing to do!

After attempting to do this I know I need a new gold nail varnish, Stargazer you've seved we well but it's time to replace you. I really wanted to keep the simplicity of the black white and gold on the bottle and keep the nails feminine. I hope actuallt really liked the look of my nails after this, with the exception of a little smudging.

It took a while to do because of my useless striping brush and gloopy nail narvish, but I got there in the end! I didn't think they turned out so bad really!

A line of purple roses.

Hey hi hello!

I'm not doing stripes this time! Surprised? Me too! Instead I went for something equally as simple, little rose flowers which are really simple but very effective. I did make a few mistakes with this design but I still rather like them. Also I was too lazy to redo them.

I knew I wanted to do flowers but I was unsure of how to do them, if that makes any sense. I ended up outlining the nails and then drawing flowers at the bottom. They looked so much better in persoin that they do on photographs I'm afraid!

It was my first time doing an outline and I now know that I really need some new nail art brushes because mine are getting old and they're looking a little... odd. I really love the colour combonation here, with Revlon Provence and Impulse as a base and colour of the outline then Essie Bahama mama as the flowers. For the inside of the flowers I mixed bahama mama with white to lighten it up.

I'm really getting ready for spring now with more girly nails. We had sun yesterday and the day before that and it was like 10 degrees. Yes! 10! Compared to the snow and freezing minus weather we've had over the last few months it was about time.

Are you guys excited for Spring/ Summer? What trends do you think are going to be big?

Another Stripe design!

Hey guys!
I'm pretty sure you're sick of me and stripe nails right now but I find them so nice and easy to do, it's my go-to kind of design right now.

It's a messy clean up job I know, I thought it was fine until I looked back at the pictures. Sigh.

Anyway, the colours I used were Models own 'Purple Gray', Revlon 'Provence' and Barry M 'Matte White'. I just used a little striping brush to do the lines and Voila, snazzy nails.

Recently I haven't really been bothering with my nails as much, I guess I'm going through a weird no pattern phase because I'm lazy. I need some more inspiration and it's hard to find.

My favourite songs right now!

Hey hi hello!

A quick post today just to let you know what I'm listening to right now and what music I think you guys should be googling. I really enjoy these kinds of posts if I think people have a similar style to me. For the record I listen to anything from Foo Fighters to Taylor Swift or Placebo to 3oh!3, so there's a bit of difference!

• Dancing Lotus - Kings of men

This is such a good song, rap really isn't my thing but most of this is just a catchy tune which is brilliantly written and performed. The video by Slomozovo on youtube is also pretty great. Tune!

•Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

This song gets you in the mindset that you're a survivor of the apocalypse and have all the power on the world. Imagine dragons as a whole are one of my favourite bands at the minute. Catchy, pop kind of songs with great lyrics. Go listen now!

• Tegan and Sara - closer

I seem to be in a more techno/ pop kind of mood lately because the songs in their new album have a more modern feel to them and Its amazing. So so so good. I only have had this album a few days and I'm in love with it.

•Don Broco - fancy Dress

Now into the slightly more rock music side of things, they still have a kinds dancey beat but the voice of the singer isn't like that. I love this album thanks to Dean Dobbs of Youtube.

• My Chemical Romance - kiss the ring

An amazing song which is best LOUD I have loved MCR since I was a kid, I have no idea why, I think I've always had a soft spot for Gerard Way to be honest. I love all of their newest songs but this one is always on repeat.

Hope this helps you guys find some new music! Have a great day!

An Illamasqua inspired post.

Hey hi hello!

As you're probably aware the new Illamasqua I'mperfection collection has been a massive hit, with it's brilliant meaning and beautiful products, what's not to love? What bloggers seem to be loving most is this speckled trend, not only the new range on nail varnish, but the eye liner too.

Amy - Speckled Eye Liner PINK

I'm not exactly sure I would have the confidence to wear eyeliner like that, but I really loved the concept and decided to attempt to recreate the look... on my nails.

If you seen my last post you will know I purchased the nail colour 'Radium' from Illamasqua and I honestly don't want to take it off my nails, so I stuck with that as a base colour. I then used a 'V' shaped nail tips sticker to section of the area, painted it black, and then added some white dots to the look.

I tried to get the black strip to almost look like a liner flick, I think it turne dout pretty well and I really like the effect it has on the nails. It's slightly different but not massively 'in your face'.

Illamasqua Radium.

Hey Hi hello!

As most of you know, if you've been following my blog for a while, I've been after that perfect lime green polish for quite a while, I think I've found it.

After quite a lot of oggling at Google images of Illamasqua 'Radium' I finally decided to spurge and make this my first Illamasqua purchase. Because there is no Illamasqua counter in my city I had to rely on internet images to make sure I really liked the colour, I don't tend to order make-up or nail polish online because often pictures can be decieving but I'm so glad I bought this.

I can't tell you how long it lasts or give a proper review because they only arrived this morning and I was so desperate to show you guys, so these are pictures and swatches.

How gorgeous is the packaging?

I feel as though these two pictures really show the colour of the actual product, the first picture is probably most realistic. Once the colour is on the nail it really isn't very shimmery at all, which I much prefer.

No pattern yet, just revel in the glory of the perfect lime green nail polish. I adore this and it's going to be a favourite for the rest of the year. Problem... now I want more colours and at £13.50 they aren't cheap. Despite the price, it is well worth the buy.

What do you guys think?

On a side-note, I'm going away tomorrow to visit family in the south of England so I won't be near a computer. I do however have a post saved in my drafts, so I shall try to publish it on Friday or Saturday.

Pendragon Stripes!

Hey Hi Hello!

I found my camera lead again so I can start uploading again! Today I have a simply Stripe design with some added awesomeness with a hint of sparkle thanks to Darling Diva Polish and her 'pendragon' creation!

A very easy design using Pendragon, Revlons 'Implusive', Calvin Kleins 'Silver' and Revlon 'Midnight'.

I also used Pendragon over here, so go check it out, and find Darling Diva Polish right here and show her some love.

A pretty simple job but I really like it!
