Melted Crayon Art Inspired!

Hey guys!

I 'melted crayon art' thing has really taken of over the last few months and it looks super fun, out of fear of covering the house in wax I won't attempt it, but I really love the effect, there's no better way to be inspired by the trend than to paint my nails.

Colours used:

Base: Essie "Neo Whimsical"

Red: Sinful colours "Cross my Heart"
Orange: Topshop "Carnival"
Yellow: Barry M "Yellow"
Green: Essie "Mojito Madness"
Blue: Topshop "Awol"
Indigo: NYC "Wild with Passion"
Violet: Champneys "Plum"

Glitter coat: Models Own "Hayleys Comet"

I really love how these turned out, I did mess them up at first on a few of the nails, but I found a technique that made the drips look more... drippy. I realised doing this that I really don't have many purple toned colours so these ones had to do, I really love the effect though and I got quite a few compliments at work.

Once I got into the flow after a few nails they really didn't take very long at all, apart from the rainbow on my thumb, that took me a while! I think these are super fun and a different way of pulling of brights for the summer. I know I've done quite a few 'drip' nails in the past but these are just so much better, don't you think?!

I added a bit of a glitter coat to the rainbow but I regretted it once I had finished the nails but hey, you live and you learn.

I am loving brights at the minute, maybe it was because we had a good few days of sun this week, until today, it's raining like crazy. Classic Northern England.

I'm sure you can expect many more crazy bright nails from me in the next few months!

Minecraft inspired nails!

Hey guys!

So I have formed an obsession with the game Minecraft because of Youtube and my brother, and so I decided to paint creepers and dirt blocks on my nails. I'm normal I swear. Anyway, if you haven't played Minecraft before I think you should go check it out, it's really fun, although I spend half of my time playing screaming at the computer as zombies and spiders run after me. I'm so rubbish at the game it's ridiculous. I die constantly.

I stuck with acrylic paints to do the square blocks, they seem a little easier to use and don't ruin brushes as much as nail varnish. The blocks aren't perfect, I didn't use tape or anything, I just freehanded it, making grids in my mind. I actually love the little creeper face, I'm super proud of it. They don't look evil but those little buggers just love to sneak up behind you and blow everything up.

I didn't do the dirt blocks in squares, I thought it would just look strange and blurred, not like dirt blocks at all, I really like how it turned out though, it made it more simple to do to, which was a bonus.

For my thumb nail I chose to do the TNT block, I was going to do Steve, the little default Minecraft guy, but after around an hour of drawing little squares I opted for an easier design. Yay laziness.  For all it was the most simple design concept it probably turned out worse than the others though.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the nails, although I didn't even attempt doing the right hand so I didn't keep most of the design. I kept the little creeper guy and painted the rest of the nails green, so they still looked pretty awesome.

It's another flowery kind of day.

Hey guys!

So apparently my obsession with floral nails hasn't stopped yet, I'm very much in a spring/ summer mood after we've had some gorgeous weather. Had a picnic in the park, been on adventures and walked for hours in the sun just for the hell of it.

I have fallen in love with the nude and green colours in this design, Models own 'Utopia' and Essie 'Mojito Madness', they're both just really, really, pretty shades for spring. I seen a design like this when browsing Google for inspiration, I just adapted it to make it more simple, to suit my tastes.

I really loved these nails when I done them, they styed on for almost a week before I got bored of them, even if they did get a little smudged and messed up after a few days. I usually go for really bright colours but this was lighter and a little more subtle .

I added Models own 'Indian ocean' to the centre of the flowers for a little glitter, I really love the new Artistix range from Models own and I'll probably buy more! Apparently 100 nail varnishes is enough for me!

How are you enjoying the British Spring Weather?

Dissertation mayhem!

Hey guys!
If you've been wondering where the hell I've been over the last few weeks I wouldn't blame you. It's true, I've been hunched over a computer for hours on end, but for all the wrong reasons.

If you didn't know already, I'm a final year English Language student, as a final year student I  have to write a 10,000 word dissertation with accounts for 60% of my final mark. As usual, I left some of my work to the last minute, so for the last few days I've locked myself away from the world, but not from Netflix, in order to conquer this thing!

I FREAKING FINISHED.

As of 15 minutes ago I finished with 9867 words in total, not including introductions, bibliographies, abstracts or tables. I'm quite proud of the work I have done and I thank all of my friends for helping me out with data, and giving me support throughout my work.

This doesn't mark the end though! I have four days to write a 3500 word essay, so I'm not calming down just yet. After that another 3500 word essay has to be finished. Roll on the 7th of May!

So I'm sorry for being so inactive, but my mind has been elsewhere recently. I will be back with a vengeance soon! Hopefully...probably.

Right. Let's watch Jericho then it's onto essay number one!

Speak soon!

Aprils Glitter Guilty Pleasures Box!

Hey hi hellloooo!

As promised I have my Glitter guilty pleasures box for April todays post, better late than never right? If you don't know what I'm talking about head over to the site here and you can find out everything about it, but basically it's a beauty box for nail varnish lovers! Each month you receive two mystery nail varnishes and a little chocolate and this months box was EPIC.

So this months box was a little bigger than the others and with it I received a mini Seche Vite top coat which I was a tad excited about... and by a tad I mean very and also a peanut butter chocolate which I'm scared to try because I only like peanuts sometimes... Onto the

This beauty of a nail varnish is called 'April showers' and is so relevant right now because the weather in Newcastle sucks, wishing I lived in the south where it's a bit warmer... or you know...maybe the Bahamas. It's a gorgeous light grey shade with lots and lots of  holographic glitters of different sizes and also little pink flowers! I found it was opaque in two coats, which I was amazed by because sometimes lighter polishes can be too sheer.

I love this, I don't know how much I'll wear it in the spring months but it's a polish I've never seen before and just looks so pretty and interesting on the nails. The little flowers are a little hard to fish out of the bottle but it's worth it!

Getting a picture of the next colour 'black ops' proved impossible! It's a gorgeous black with tiny holographic flakes which flashes purple/green depending on the light. This is by far my favourite nail varnish I've bought this year. I think it looks amazing alone or in a nail art design and the glitter isn't huge so it's really easy to work with and applies like a dream. It's opaque in one coat but the colour shows up more of a dark grey than a black, I found anyway.

I show here gradient nails with both colours, I didn't include the little pink flowers from 'April showers' because I didn't think they'd look right. I am so in love right now with these and can't wait for my next box. My parents keep asking me what I want for my birthday, I'll let them buy me a 6 month subscription...

What do you guys think of these boxes, are you tempted? I know I am!

Sidenote: The shipping is really awesome! When I first bought the box I thought it wouldn't arrive until about the 20th with it coming from America, but it arrived on the 10th, even with the three bank holidays! Thanks Jessica for your wonderful, wonderful creations!

Previously unseen nails!

Hey guuyyys!

So, if you hadn't realized already I am in fact the biggest klutz of all time and I have just recovered from a finger injury... and then injured myself again...by jamming my finger in the till at work. I swear I should claim compensation for work related injury, I'd be a millionaire, although it is self induced... Onto the nails!

There are a few designs I've done in the past that I haven't shown, due to them being not perfect, or I've forgotten to post and other such things! I figured I'd just show a couple pictures here!

I actually really quite liked these nails because of the bright colours, I used all Topshop colours because I seem to have an obsession at the minute!

The reason I didn't post this one was because of how often I post flower nails, plus they weren't perfect! Again I used Topshop colours!

A short post I know! But I'm posting about my April Glitter guilty box soon! I just wanted to show these designs with you.

Easy Peasy Poppies!

Hello!

So I haven't been painting my nails much recently, not pretty patterns anyway and if they have been a pattern it's been one I've shown multiple times before. It's fair to say I was lacking inspiration until I went on youtube today and found this video.

I always thought poppy nails would be fairly hard but guys! They were super easy peasy lemon squeezy!

I adore these nails, it's really put me in the spring mood now! They just look so gorgeous and effective without being really difficult to do. I'm now really excited to try some other flower nail art designs and maybe even try to create some of my own that I haven't used a tutorial for.

The colours used are Fearne 'Royal Red', Essie 'Mojito madness', Revlos 'white on white' and a random black polish I found lying around. I also have a new top coat which I am really excited about because I am in fact mental.  I finished off with Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri top coat to make the nails all nice and shiny!

I always realise that I use the bottom of my nail as the start of the design rather than the top but it's so the design looks the right way up to me so I hope it doesn't annoy you too much. I'll try to change I promise!

My mam really loved the nails and so I painted hers too. Like mother like daughter eh?

I was pretty impressed with these nails, I even managed to so my right hand well and that never happens. It was also only the second time I've ever done a design on somebody's nails and so I was chuffed that my mam loved them and I done them with no mistakes! Please excuse the pen mark on my hand, apparently the chicken little/ portrait of my dad will not come off my hand.
